Chris Wilmot, owner – trainer of Functional Fitness, was highly recommended to me by staff at Glenbourne Chiropractic. Why did I start training? I wanted to have good health, get in shape and avoid surgery.
Every workout is unique – never boring and ALWAYS EFFECTIVE. You’ll learn the fundamentals and build upon them. The training is never the same repetitive workout that other gyms offer and that’s one thing I love about it. I have done workouts at other gyms and they don’t even compare to the training Chris provides. It’s all about the training – the right training. His education and experience speak for itself. He’s a certified strength and conditioning specialist and a certified personal trainer with a background in kinesiology and psychology. He listens. He cares. Give him 100% effort in your workouts and he’ll do the same. Optimal health…priceless I have lost over 30 pounds, been able to avoid surgery and gained a great ‘new’ body. I have surpassed what I thought was possible. My body has totally transformed over the past 3½ years. In the past, I would have bet my life that I would never run (for fun) and now I have completed three races including two half marathons. I believe a well balanced lifestyle is key. Eat well (know your ingredients), exercise like you mean it, relax, stretch and listen to your body. Take preventative measures for your health and your body will thank you! I’m so glad I decided to exercise (group training and personal training) with Chris because I’m in the best shape of my life and I don’t regret a single step! Chris has been my “go to guy” for anything health and fitness related over the past 15 years. His support and vast knowledge has assisted me in achieving all my fitness goals. In my profession as a police officer physical fitness can literally mean the difference between life and death.. so I take it seriously... and so does Chris.
With his programs and advice I feel very confident in my abilities while dealing with some of the physical adversities that occur in my job. In my mid 20s as I prepared for a career in law enforcement I needed to lose weight and prepare for industry-specific fitness tests – Chris’ and his “boot camps” helped me lose 75 pounds and pass at the top of my class. At 30 I ran a half marathon. Chris provided me with an easy to follow running program and training schedule that made the training precise and attainable. I have run a half marathon for the 7 years since. For the past 10 years I have lived in Calgary and have been able to maintain my training with Chris despite the distance. He has provided me with training programs that have helped me to maintain that high level of fitness as the years pass. He has tailored programs to fit my goals, my schedule and even some injuries along the way. If I have a question, he’s quick to respond with a text, an email or a phone call... not always with the answer I want to hear... but with an answer. I am indebted to him for the helping me achieve some of my life’s goals. |

I remember how vulnerable I felt hitting "send" on an email to Chris asking for help. From that first email reply to now, Chris has always been 100% supportive and made me feel comfortable as he walked alongside me through a journey to bring back wellness, self-care and movement to my life.
